This e-book has been edited from the printed version. This e-book targets a wide range of readers acting in different areas, functions, and instances. The content covers various aspects of the rural transformation process and the multifaceted realities experienced by families who are part of this heterogeneous whole simply called family farming. The book offers innovative perspectives to the reader interested in the family farmers? participation possibilities in emancipatory processes. The one curious about the contexts in which now operate joint efforts for the transformation of reality and promotion of quality of life of thousands of farmers will find much useful information and the description of seven experiences in four regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Midwest and Southeast) on territorial or local development context in different stages. These experiences bring together, in contract or project partnerships, a number of institutions, represented by policymakers, teachers, technicians, analysts, assistants, researchers, international consultants, managers, farmers, entrepreneurs and financing agents, as well as fundamental, secondary and higher education and graduation. Most authors ? from different disciplines and, in some cases, with multidisciplinary education ? experienced the projects described herein for nearly a decade and, in many cases, they were part of their design. The close connection of some of them with the University allowed the inclusion of young students in teams of these projects and, with this, the formation of new staff in an environment conducive to discussion, analysis and coping real technological problems arising in the context of production, as well as managerial and administrative problems in the management and coordination of the various participants involved in the implementation of these initiatives.
